General comments
Bij ongecompliceerde appendicitis (na appendectomie) of diverticulitis (Hinchey 1a) zijn geen antibiotica geindiceerd.
Bij conservatieve (niet chirurgische) behandeling van een simpele appendicitis:
Start met IV antibiotica voor 2 tot 3 dagen. Vervolg klinisch met op indicatie infectieparameters en aanvullende beeldvorming. Bij klinisch goed herstel uitbehandelen met 5 tot 10 dagen orale antibiotica.(2)
Bij perforatie, na chirurgisch ingrijpen: start iv therapie voor 2-3 dagen;
Totale behandelduur 5 dagen.
